Last month my team and I traveled to Austin, Texas for SXSW. Over the two weeks at the conference, Pearson hosted two learning lounges with a goal of creating an awesome networking lounge where educators and Edu attendees could come relax, recharge their devices, network and have one on one time with Pearson. Here's a behind the scenes look at some of the event highlights:
These were two lounges we built for Edu and Interactive, with the aim of connecting with Edu goers, in an informal environment .
Buzzworthy news and trends:
At SXSWedu we also announced the second round of Pearson Catalyst our virtual accelerator program, whereby edtech startups can submit their solutions to these challenges. Find out more at catalyst.pearson.com
Trending across both SXSWedu and Interactive was the maker movement, and our uber cool partners Makerversity were leading the way! Founder Tom Tobia and his team created makerspaces within the Pearson lounges kitted out with 3D printers, laser cutters and edtech prototypes, and took the maker scene to the streets of Austin in an RV. Check out pics below.
I spent an afternoon at the Mashable House hanging out with Grumpy Cat, taking pictures on the Miley Cyrus-inspired wrecking ball, acquiring really cool swag, and unlocking access to the Easter Egg Speakeasy.
Lena Dunham had a lot of inspiring words to share in her keynote during film.
My favorite bands during music included: Future Islands, Dum Dum Girls, Little Dragon, London Grammar, Sam Smith, Damon Albarn, Kelis, Sohn, and Trust to name a few!
Talks and sessions themed around APIs definitely leveled up from last year, most notably around best practices and API design.

We truly had a blast and look forward to expanding our efforts further next year! Here are a few gifs from the Pearson party during Edu of our team.
