During your initial setup with your Pearson Strategic Customer Operations (SCO) team, you can designate that notification emails are automatically generated and sent to users when specific items change. For example, emails can be automatically sent to students when their accounts are created and they are enrolled in a course. If you have chosen this option, you must provide email templates to your SCO consultant. These templates define the standard content that would be included in these emails.

This section contains sample email templates that you may either use or modify during your initial setup. The values within square brackets, e.g., [ ], will be replaced automatically with the appropriate data for each user. You should replace the values within the curly brackets, e.g., { } , with the information specific to your institution.

Contact your SCO team for a list of all possible events that could result in notification emails.

Email Template: User Account Creation/Enrollment

The following template defines the email that would be sent when a new user account is added or the user is enrolled in a course.

Note: Sending the user password unencrypted in an email is supported, but is a security concern. If you choose to include the password in the email, we recommend that you have in place a security process to protect the user. The template gives an example of such a procedure. Another example is having the password be good for one login, but it must be immediately reset once the user has logged in the first time.

Hello [userFirstName] [userLastName],

    * If you are a new student, your password is a combination of the year and month you were born using the format of YYYYMM. (For example, if you were born in June, 1975, your password would be 197506.) We recommend that you reset your password after your initial login.
