The outbound single sign-on (SSO) features in LearningStudio allow you to seamlessly link to a third-party learning tool from within a LearningStudio course. Session information, including user and course identifiers, is passed to the third-party tool, allowing the tool to sign in the user without additional authentication or password entry. Outbound links can be configured to open in either a new window or inside LearningStudio's main content frame.

LearningStudio supports Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), an EdTech standard defined by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. This is the preferred outbound SSO method. All EdTech software providers should implement the LTI standard, so that the software can be used with other EdTech providers and learning management systems (LMSs).

LearningStudio supports basic LTI (version 1.0) for launching third-party tools. LearningStudio sends a standard set of LTI parameters, which supports most configurations. The parameters sent can include additional data, such as user or course information or any custom parameters you may require.

LearningStudio also supports its legacy outbound SSO API. These interfaces support some data points that may not be currently supported in the LearningStudio LTI launcher. In the legacy outbound SSO API, LearningStudio uses query string format to send data.
