LearningStudio is a Software as a Service offering, meaning that Pearson hosts the platform on our servers on behalf of our clients. The benefits of this approach include full monitoring and minimal downtime, and that there are no local instances to install or maintain. Also, with few exceptions, all clients are on the same version all the time.
A LearningStudio instance is called a campus, and each LearningStudio client institution ("Educational Partner" or "EP"), has their own campus. Campuses can be subdivided into nodes, which are often used for different schools in a university, or different brands or locations in a collective of institutions.
You will initially do your development work on our Sandbox Campus, and when you are ready to deploy to an institution, you will be given access to that institution's LearningStudio campus.
The LearningStudio APIs are consistent across all campuses, so the application you develop in one instance typically should work in other instances without requiring modification. There may be minor discrepancies in how institutions store or use data, but these rarely affect application deployment.
