50pixels is a London based software house and development consultancy building web and mobile products. We specialise on helping startups and larger organisations building innovative web applications and mobile apps, focusing on iOS and Ruby on Rails.
We built Spotlist as the app we needed for ourselves. A simple iPhone application to save the places we wanted to remember, without the complications and publicity of location based social networks. Think of it as Foursquare for introverts. We decided to focus on the idea of curating personal lists of favourite places, what we used to do on paper notebooks.
We had the opportunity to build the app at the Winter Hackathon, where we learned about the Pearson Eyewitness API, which gave us all we needed to give users the ability to find and save the best places in London, just in time for the Olympics. The app won in the "Museums & Attractions" category.
About the app
Spotlist - Never forget a good spot!
With Spotlist you can create lists of places you like, or you want to visit. Quickly add a place to a list by searching it, or choosing from nearby locations. You can keep your places private, or share them with your friends via Facebook, Twitter or Email.
- Save places you want to remember.
- Share them with your friends, only if you want to (it's not a check-in!).
- Access public lists of interesting places, like the best restaurants or bars you can't miss in town.
Soon available on Apple's AppStore. Get on the http://www.spotlistapp.comlaunch list to be notified.
