Last week we had the opportunity to participate in the Facebook World Hack in Sao Paulo, Brazil on behalf of Plug & Play APIs. We were fortunate to have several representatives from Pearson Brazil attend the event, including: Lucas Nascimento, Marcelo Perecim, Marcelo Lourencini and Igor Silva.
After a number of presentations from Facebook and partners hacking got underway.
Private Facebook World Hack group hosted on Facebook was active with commentary and interaction between hackers and developer advocates.
A number of attendees explored our APIs and we awarded gift cards to the following hackers who created applications using Plug & Play APIs.
Pearson API Hack Awards:
- 1st Place: Adriano Dias – used Pearson Kitchen Manager API to create an app to expose and find recipes to share on the Facebook timeline so other connections can learn about what you are cooking as well as comment on your creations.
- Find documentation here.
- 2nd Place: Jose Castilho – used the FT Press API to create a resume system that suggests relevant news and business information to system users.
Thanks again to Bear Douglas, James Pearce and the rest of the team at Facebook for including us in the Facebook World Hacks and for being so welcoming to our colleagues in Mexico City and Sao Paulo. Check out the facebook developers site here. Check out our Flickr gallery here.
